Scaling the AI Safety Frontier: LISA Grantmaking Panel
Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars are deployed to reduce existential risks from transformative AI; yet, for most people actively involved in the field, grantmaking remains a black box.
AI Safety funders are often bottlenecked by operational and team capacity, causing notable organisations like Coefficient Giving and Longview Philanthropy to scale rapidly and prepare for the large influx of capital on the way. Grantmaking powers ambitious researchers and founders, but they are short of talent who can help in deciding how to deploy funds in the most impactful way.
On Wednesday, 19th of August, join us at 6:00pm @ LISA to hear from grantmakers across EA and AI Safety's largest funding organisations. It's a great chance to understand what grantmaking encompasses, what functions exist within each organization, and what skills are the most needed for the field now. The panel will be followed by a live Q&A from the audience.
This is for anyone curious about how AI Safety grantmaking actually works, and agentic talent who has never considered that AI safety grantmaking might be a place for them. No background knowledge required!
