Woven Wall Hanging Workshop with Jessie Mordine Young
Join us for a therapeutic evening of weaving with the ever so talented artist / educator Jessie Young!
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of frame loom weaving; from warping your loom and drafting a design to incorporating a variety of tapestry techniques.
Together, we’ll explore both structure and image-building and your instructor will guide you in your piece’s development through each stage of the textile-making process, resulting in a one-of-a-kind work of art.
This class is focused on both creativity and resourcefulness; students will work on a DIY cardboard loom and incorporate materials and tools you might already have within reach at home. You’ll take your loom home as a template for future projects, plus the skills and confidence to keep weaving on your own.
Leave with a unique decorative woven wall hanging, and the know-how to make many more!
This class is designed for beginners! All materials + warm beverages included.

About Your Instructor
Jessie Mordine Young (b. England, 1993) is a Brooklyn-based artist who researches, writes about, curates, makes and teaches textile art. Jessie is best known for her project “A Woven Year,” where she created one original artwork each day of 2023. She is part-time faculty at Parsons School of Design at the New School in NYC.
