About Event

To meet the growing demand for such critical resources as lithium, rare earth minerals and timber, industrial players are increasingly looking at more sustainable alternatives. These materials, often made from waste products destined for landfills and incinerators, not only offer a more reliable (and domestic) supply chain but also a lower carbon footprint.

Learn more about the growing shift to circular materials and energy sources at the next MaRS Session.

Featured ventures:

  • Sarnia-based AlumaPower has developed a long-duration energy storage solution using recycled aluminum. Its light-weight, energy-dense and zero-emission energy source has various applications in transportation, residential heating, portable generators and long-haul rail.

  • Carbogenics, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, turns biomass and agricultural byproducts  into biochar — a material that has many applications in wastewater treatment, construction and food production.

  • Toronto’s Daylun specializes in developing sustainable building materials for the modular home construction industry. The company’s materials include sustainable bamboo building panels and vegetable-based, construction-grade adhesives.

Join this MaRS Sessions on Thursday, November 20 at 1 p.m. EST.
