Accelerating Drug Development: Modern Strategies for Therapeutic Advancements
Charles River Presents: Accelerating Drug Development: Modern Strategies for Therapeutic Advancements
The drug development process is dynamic and is often associated with long cycle times. Speeding up a program is possible but requires focused efforts and a detailed plan starting at the beginning. This talk will highlight the following:
Importance of robust target validation
Building an efficient early discovery phase
How New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) can impact a program
Focusing on the IND-Phase (non-clinical studies)
Leveraging your CRO to maximize success.
Speaker: Michael V. Templin, PhD, DABT; Director, Scientific Advisory Services, Charles River Laboratories.
Dr. Templin has over 25 years of experience in drug development, including pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety assessment. Pharmaceutical development experience includes gene therapy, biologics, nucleic acid-based compounds, proteins/peptides, and small molecules. Industry experiences have ranged from start-up biotechnology to mid-sized pharma companies. He has worked with family-organized programs for individual patients, with foundations working on treatment options for ultra-rare diseases, and several programs for orphan diseases. For all programs, the underlying goal of his efforts is to find an efficient and effective pathway for companies and ultimately provide much needed benefit to patients.
