The Lost Art of Listening - Album Club Vol 1: What's Going On
The premise: People used to get together and simply listen to music and do nothing else.
In the world of streaming and algorithms music can become disposable, and consumption can be passive. Album Club is a remedy. Through active engagement with music as an art form, we will regain the lost art of listening.
For the first edition of The Lost Art of Listening - Album Club, we will take in Marvin Gaye's 1971 masterpiece 'What's Goin On', a concept album about social change, war, ecology, and spiritual transformation. While many may be familiar with a song or two from the album they may not realize it is a work of art meant to be taken as a whole.
For future editions of Album Club, other Pluto Members will have the opportunity to share albums of artistic, cultural, and personal significance with the community.
