The Celtic Club Melbourne presents Conviction Politics – a special screening of six short documentary films honouring Irish martyrs transported to Australia from 1788 to 1868
With special guest performance by legendary singer-songwriter MICK THOMAS (Conviction Politics Musical Director) and BROOKE TAYLOR of songs celebrating Australia’s Irish rebels.
Created by the multimedia history project ‘Conviction Politics: the convict routes of Australian democracy’, the documentaries will be introduced by their director Steve Thomas (Roar Film) and project lead Professor Tony Moore (Monash University) with lively audience Q and A.
Films and songs will span the United Irishmen’s Revolution 1798, the Castle Hill Rebellion in Australia, the Young Ireland Revolution of 1848, the Fenians and their transported leaders had in their place of exile.
