

Powering the Future: Inside Humber’s Low-Carbon Campus
Join us at Humber Polytechnic’s North Campus for an engaging informational session followed by a guided campus tour. We’ll start with a look at Humber’s Integrated Energy Master Plan and how it’s shaping real action to reduce emissions. Then, head out across campus to see those actions in practice, including carbon reduction initiatives and Project SWITCH, which bring strategy to life through infrastructure, systems, and everyday operations.
About the Host: Spencer Wood has been in Facilities Management at Humber for 25 years. As the Director of Facilities Management he oversees all operations and maintenance activities as well as leading Humber’s sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives. Notable recent successes of those initiatives include Canada’s Greenest Employer award 10 years in a row, development of Humber's Integrated Energy Master Plan, the first institutional Canadian Passive House retrofit, and developing the cutting edge “Switch” project to reduce natural gas use on campus by 70%. Spencer is passionate about creating a culture of sustainability at Humber. He holds a BSc in Environmental Science from McMaster University, and is a Certified Energy Manager.
Aman Hehar is the Associate Director, Energy & Climate Change for Humber College. Within this role, he is responsible for delivering on Humber Polytechnic’s ambitious goal to be net zero in 2029. Aman is a Professional Engineer, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional and LEED Accredited Professional and has over 15 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining Humber, Aman’s primary focus was on using energy simulations to assist design teams in understanding the impacts of their decisions during the planning and design phases of new construction projects. His past experience also includes having operated his own business performing energy audits on single-family homes.
