Accelerating Subnational Climate Action: Practices, Cooperation, and Insights
Asia faces diverse challenges in achieving its climate goals, with subnational regions varying widely in development stages, industrial structures, and energy mixes. At the same time, subnational governments and regional research institutions are stepping up to implement tailored subnational climate strategies. Across China, Korea and other parts of Asia, subnational actors — including provinces and cities — are piloting innovative policies and locally adapted solutions to drive decarbonization, with research partners providing critical technical support and actionable insights.
This event highlights innovative practices and cross-regional cooperation in subnational climate action. Participants include representatives from think tanks, local governments, environmental foundations, and international experts. The session features keynote presentations and a roundtable discussion to foster dialogue and knowledge exchange.
