With 62 Hornbill species in the world, we wanted to celebrate this incredible and varied ancient bird family!
Hornbills have a prehistoric look, lending themselves to often being described as the 'modern day dinosaurs'. Their unique features, like their large beaks and casques are a striking reminder of their deep evolutionary history. Their 50 million year lineage makes them modern descendants of ancient avian.
If you haven't guessed, we are huge fans of the Hornbill at Animal Life Drawing. Expect to be amazed by the incredible variety of this bird species. Your sketchbooks will be very thankful you joined in!
On screen you will see imagery with timers for your reference. We will warm up with a few quick studies and then gradually slow down for you to get lost into. Always expect a warm welcome, creative company and chat. There is no pressure to talk or have your camera on. This is a safe space to feel comfortable and for every one of all abilities.
