​Talk: "Finding Meaning in Spaces for Humans and AI" Presented by Alastair Somerville

​Alastair Somerville is a sensory design consultant and facilitator. He provides expert advice on cognition and person-centered design to companies and public organizations who provide both physical and digital products or services. He facilitates workshops on sensory and emotional design as well as accessible information architecture and wayfinding for corporations and cultural attractions and conferences across the world. He is currently working on citizen assembly and community cohesion projects in the UK and EU.

​Using experiences from accessibility, content design and information architecture projects, Alastair will talk about how structures, like boundaries and blocks, help people find their way through complex information in both physical and digital spaces. Using a wayfinding sense of design, how can we provide and enable meaning-finding and meaning-making? Also, how do we help the new users, artificial intelligences (AI), find their way too? What do we, as human designers, offer to AI to enable them to find meaning and to offer meaning to other people?
