field:work | Drawing With Code [(Un)Common Objects]
An afternoon translating the oldest art-school exercise: sitting in front of a still life and drawing what you see. But this time with code.
BYOO (Bring Your Own Object) and we'll collectively set up an arrangement in the Lab, then spend the session generating code-based responses to it. Instead of pencil and paper, you'll have a web-based tool that we've created for you! The question then becomes: how can we see the world through algorithms? What does this medium abstract or exaggerate? What kind of picture emerges when a scene is described in loops, coordinates, and rules rather than lines?
The Exploration Lab is less about producing polished images and more about treating computation as a way of seeing.
Bring a laptop or tablet. Beginner-friendly. Starter code and objects provided.
Drawing with Code is part of field:work's series of hands-on sessions exploring creative coding, generative systems, and computation as an artistic medium.
