Karen Hao recently was the only author listed in TIMES100 AI 2025. Hao’s book exposes internal drama and moral compromises, revealing how OpenAI outsourced content moderation labor to Kenya and dramatizing Sam Altman’s abrupt ousting and comeback.
Even though it was acclaimed, Sam Altman has publicly criticised Hao's book on social media! Which makes it all the more interesting.

Anyone, anywhere can join! You’re welcome to join one, a few, or all seven book events. Ideally, you’ll have read and thought through the book, but the minimum is a few hours of “vibe reading” — enough to get a feel for it, with the intention to finish later.
