Antidepressant tapering for Therapists
About the event
More and more clients are asking for help coming off antidepressants, and therapists are often the first people they turn to. What exactly are withdrawal symptoms (and how do they differ from relapse)? What does “hyperbolic tapering” mean in practice? How can you stay within scope and still be an effective partner in your client’s discontinuation plan?
In this therapist-facing session, Megan Cornish, LICSW and Charlotte Herring will offer practical frameworks, discussion prompts, and workflow tips for supporting clients through antidepressant tapering. We’ll also launch the new Outro Therapist Directory: a free directory, where providers adjacent to Outro’s deprescribing service can apply to have their profiles listed.
Can’t make it live? Register anyway and we’ll send the recording.
What will you learn
Withdrawal vs. relapse: how to recognize, educate, and normalize without minimizing risk.
Hyperbolic tapering: why smaller, stepwise reductions can reduce withdrawal burden.
Staying in scope: ethical boundaries for therapy providers during medication changes
Collaboration that works: How to support patients between prescribers and care teams.
Introducing the Therapist Directory: how it works, who it’s for, and how it benefits therapists, clinicians, and patients.
Who should attend
Licensed therapists, counselors, psychologists, and social workers interested in taper-informed care, care coordination, and practical tools you can use in session this week.
