​The next Pune Knowledge on Tap will be on Wednesday, 29th October, with Deepak 'Chuck' Gopalakrishnan, on "How Tech Shapes Music"

​How will AI impact music? Studying the past will reveal some answers. In this session, music lover and internet gadabout Chuck looks at how past technologies have impacted music, its players and economics. Part talk, part interactive, and maybe some nice songs too!

​Chuck is a marketing consultant who is fond of overthinking about how technology impacts culture. He has worked at ad agencies like Ogilvy and Leo Burnett, events firms OML and Insider, and taught digital marketing at several places including a couple of the IIMs and this city's own FLAME University and SIMC. Chuck runs a content coaching program called The 6% Club, where he and a friend help working professionals turn their interests into their very own podcasts and newsletters. He has himself run several content projects - podcasts, newsletters and more, on topics ranging from the origin of brands, to irreverent humour, to politics, to technology.

​Chuck loves music, especially the world of rock and heavy metal. He is fond of deep listening - putting on headphones, shutting off the internet and just zoning out to his favourite songs. But he is ALSO fond of thinking about how music and technology are intertwined - something that's the subject of his talk today. He constantly tries to find historical parallels - something he feels will be very useful as we try to navigate the brave new world of AI. In other words, if you ask him "how will AI change music", then he's likely to think about how past technologies have changed music, musicians, the economics of music, and so on. Needless to say, this is a favourite topic of his once he's two beers down.

• ​​Timing:

  • ​​6:30pm: registration, mingling, ordering

  • ​​7:00pm: Main talk

  • ​​8:15pm: Main event ends, but feel free to stick around afterwards to mingle, interact with the speaker or us, and have dinner.

• ​​Parking: There is parking in the basement (level -2) of the building—but be careful, big cars might not be able to navigate the turn. It is self-parking, you can park anywhere, but please do it mindfully, and don't park in such a way as to eat up multiple spots. You can also find parking on the street, either on the main ITI road or the bylanes.

• ​​Payment: ₹300 per person will be collected at the entrance, which can be applied towards your bill. (No, you don't have to drink beer or any other alcohol!)

• ​​No Age Restriction: There is no age restriction. You can bring children along.
