ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Taylor Lorenz is a technology journalist in Los Angeles, CA and author of the book Extremely Online: The Untold Story of Fame, Influence, and Power on the Internet. She has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, the Daily Beast and many other publications. Most recently, she has found her voice through her newsletter, User Mag, and YouTube channel.

Tasbeeh Herwees was born and raised in Los Angeles with 15 years of culture reporting experience, with bylines in the Los Angeles Times (and Image Magazine), GQ, Teen Vogue, The Fader, VICE, Bon Appetit, Vulture, and more. Her newsletter, No Bad Days, covers the good, the bad and everything about LA that gives it texture.

Frank Shyong was a long-time metro columnist at the LA Times and the creator of the Asian Enough podcast. One of his stories won a Los Angeles Press Club Award and was adapted into the 2025 movie Rosemead, starring Lucy Liu. His newsletter, Lunch Box, publishes writings about food, culture, travel and Southern California. 

Ben Camacho is a multi-award winning investigative journalist and documentary photographer. He chaired the legal committee at IWW Freelance Journalists Union from 2021 until 2025, organizing for better working conditions for freelancers. He continues muckraking through the newsletter-led publication, Inadvertent.
