Crafting a Poem: from Seed to Structure

​Calling all poets (and aspiring poets) to join us for a poetry intensive with Olena Jennings. This will be a workshop hosted in two segments with a break in between. Our goal will be to nurture an idea and turn it into a completed draft by the end of the session!

​Section 1
11:00am–12:45pm
The first segment will focus on generative exercises. We will read poems and talk about the different approaches to writing them. Authors include Joy Harjo, Leslie Sainz, Kaveh Akbar, and Ilya Kaminsky. We will do exercises based on the poems, creating our own poems.

​Section 2
1:15–3:00pm
The second segment will focus on workshopping. Everyone will come away with an idea of how to edit their poem. We will discuss venues for reading and literary journals for publication.

​HOW TO ENTER

​Our studio is located at 21-07 41st Avenue. When you get to the building, please use your phone to scan the Alpha Touch QR code sign on the door and find The Collaboratory in the directory to be buzzed in.

Once inside, you can take the elevator to Floor 2 and find us in Studio #213.

​MASK REMINDER

​The Collaboratory is a *Masks Required* space. 😷 We also run two air filters/purifiers during our gatherings. If you don't arrive with a mask, don't worry—we'll have them available at the door.

​REFUND POLICY

​At this time the QNSC is unable to issue refunds except on a case by case basis. If you are unable to attend an event for which you have purchased a ticket, tickets can be transferred to another person at the buyer's arrangement.
