About Event

If you are in the business of worldbuilding, you are in the business of identity engineering. Identity used to be constructed environmentally and socially, then digitally, then algorithmically.

Now, the algorithm is the environment and world building isn’t just a concept. More unbelievably, we're past world building and looking at being unable to discern the "real" world from the synthetic. If the environment is the algorithm and the world the worldview, identity almost becomes a spatial artifact. XR externalizes the self into the room. Adaptive systems reconstruct you continuously, not based on who you say you are but on what your signals imply. The self becomes a pattern for the system to model, fill in, and complete.

Every choice in a post-AGI, post interface world is a political decision about who gets to exist, how power flows, and what behaviors are amplified or suppressed.

The question that matters now is simple: who do you choose to be when you get to decide? Do you have enough agency to keep separate your decisions in a synthetic world from your reality in the material?

A new game studio is placing their bet on identity at everything from playstyle to profit and will lead a conversation that might answer gaming’s recent unit economic overhaul.

We have a few seats left at the table to look at identity conflict as a game mechanic and immersion as a civic simulation and to answer the age old question, “Who are you, really?”
