About Event

Overview
Build a self-contained miniature ecosystem and learn how it sustains itself, using native species and reclaimed materials!

About the Workshop:
A terrarium is a fascinating enclosed environment where living plants thrive off their own moisture cycle, needing very little from you once it's set up. In this workshop, you'll learn to build your miniature garden layer by layer, understand why each layer matters, and take home the knowledge to care for it long after you leave. We will focus on working with native UK species such as moss, ferns and others and we will learn about, local foraging, and rewilding principles. We'll also be moving away from standard glass jars, working instead with reclaimed containers and petri dishes, so every terrarium has its own unusual shape and story.

✴️ What You'll Do:
A short talk on the history and ecology of terrariums Hands on building of each layer, from drainage to soil to planting
Learn about native species, closed loop systems, and ongoing care
Decorate with stones and moss in a reclaimed container of your choice
All materials provided. Ongoing care advice included after the workshop.

For whom?
This workshop is for anyone curious about ecosystem design, plant care, regenerative design, and low maintenance ways to bring nature indoors.
