On Friday, 18 September, Power to Hydrogen will commission a 0.5 MW anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyser at the NextGen District of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and begin producing renewable hydrogen on site.

This is P2H2's first commercial deployment and the first system anywhere built on 250-kilowatt AEM stacks. Once commissioned, it will be the first AEM system to demonstrate renewable hydrogen production in a high-throughput industrial port under real operating conditions. Hydrogen from the system will supply mobility and industrial customers in the region, with Holthausen as the offtaker at launch.

The system was delivered in August.

NextGen Demo is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Flemish Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fund (FIO), administered by VLAIO.
