About Event

Robots are leaving the lab and entering our homes, hospitals, schools and workplaces. Whether people accept them depends on more than how well they work. It depends on whether people trust them.

Join us in London for an intimate evening introducing the Institute for Humane Robotics (IHR) and our work on the human layer of robotics.

Most of the industry's attention goes to hardware, AI capability and physical safety.

We focus on what happens when a robot actually meets people: patients, staff, guests, children and families.

Drawing on human-robot interaction (HRI) research and hundreds of conversations across the robotics ecosystem, we help robotics companies and adopting organisations build relational trust and safety, so robots are trusted before they reach the public, not after.

Agenda

Introducing the Institute for Humane Robotics (30 min)

Co-founders Sara Filipčić (Chair, IEEE P7027) and Dr. Roshni Lulla on why psychosocial safety is the next frontier for robotics, what we're learning from people living and working with robots, and where IHR is headed next.

Creative expression and robots in society (15 min)
Guest speaker Dr. Hooman Samani, Reader in Creative Robotics at UAL's Creative Computing Institute and pioneer of Lovotics, on how the way robots move, communicate and express themselves shapes whether people welcome them into everyday life.

Q&A and open conversation

Who should come: robotics founders and product teams, HRI researchers, artists, designers and creative technologists, investors, and organisations thinking about deploying robots.

This is a private event and spaces are limited.
