Demo Night: PhaseChimes Musical Exploration

​Ken Murphy will demonstrate his PhaseChimes project: an app for musical exploration. Using virtual gears, you build seemingly simple musical machines that produce surprisingly complex rhythms and melodies. It's designed for musicians interested in exploring concepts like polyrhythms and phase music, but is also meant to be intuitive enough for anyone.

​PhaseChimes is a work in progress. You'll be able to download a beta version to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac (sorry, no Android version yet!)

​Ken Murphy is a musician and software developer that dabbles in a variety of pursuits. He was an artist-in-residence at the Exploratorium, and wrote a children's book about the creative use of electronics. He loves using his tech skills to build tools for creative exploration.
