About Event

Join us Tuesday, November 10th at 5:30 PM for a talk with Andrew Hogan, Head of Insights at Figma. Drawing on years of research at Figma and his time as an analyst at Forrester, Andrew studies how design is changing in an era where AI, new tools, and new roles are reshaping how digital products get made. His work focuses on the real behavior inside teams: who is actually doing design, how decisions get made, and what separates the organizations that ship consistently great experiences from everyone else.

In his talk, The New Rules of Design, Andrew will present empirical findings on the changing role of designers and the increasing participation of "designers by another name" across product, engineering, marketing, and other functions. He will examine how AI-generated interfaces and accelerated prototyping are reshaping design practice, and identify domains where distinctly human judgment, interpretation, and taste remain central. Moving from popular discourse to research-backed insights, he will articulate emerging principles for contemporary design work, including cross-disciplinary collaboration, pathways for junior practitioners in a senior-leaning labor market, and strategies for sustaining a distinctive design language in a world where interface creation is widely accessible.

This event is free and open to the public.
