Quantum Masterclass @ UPT – Deep Dive into Quantum Emulation with Eviden's Qaptiva
December 8 • 14:00 – 16:30
Location: this event will be run on Google meet. You will receive the link after registration
Join us for a new session in the Quantum Masterclass series at Politehnica University of Timișoara, where we explore the most relevant and practical pathways toward real-world quantum computing.
Our guest speaker is Damien NICOLAZIC (Damien Nicolazic | LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/damien-nicolazic-498b77241/) , Quantum Computing Engineer, with hands-on experience in developing and optimizing quantum and quantum-inspired applications on hybrid HPC–quantum infrastructures. Damien will deliver an in-depth technical workshop on emulation using Eviden's Qaptiva.
Why Emulation Matters Today
While Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) are advancing rapidly, they are not yet mature or scalable enough for wide industrial deployment. In this transition phase, large-scale quantum emulation has become a critical accelerator for both research and industry.
A new generation of quantum and quantum-inspired models has reached a tipping point where:
they deliver faster or higher-quality results than classical approaches in specific domains,
they run efficiently on today’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems,
they allow organizations to prototype, validate, and optimize quantum algorithms long before real QPUs become broadly available,
they help build the talent and tooling needed for the moment when quantum becomes “the next AI hype.”
Qaptiva provides a unified environment for simulation, emulation, and experimentation, enabling developers and researchers to move from theory to practical workflows at scale.
What You Will Learn
how large-scale quantum emulation works on modern HPC architectures;
why traditional simulation hits limits and how Qaptiva overcomes them;
examples of quantum and quantum-inspired algorithms already showing practical advantages;
how emulation accelerates R&D and de-risks future quantum adoption;
live demonstrations of Qaptiva and emerging application scenarios.
