About Event

How do AI coding tools actually change the way developers work? Sam Boysel, Data Scientist at The Linux Foundation, will share findings from one of the largest natural experiments on generative AI and software development. His team analyzed millions of GitHub observations over two years to study what happens when developers get access to Copilot.

The findings: developers with AI access shift toward more coding and less project management. But the more interesting story is why, AI reduces the need to collaborate with others to solve problems, and it encourages developers to explore new projects and programming languages rather than staying in their comfort zone. Lower ability developers saw the biggest benefits.

If you're a developer using AI tools (or thinking about it), or you're just curious about how these tools are changing software development workflows, come hear what the data actually shows.
