​In this interactive workshop, we’ll work directly with real 1947 issues of the Tacoma Times, including UFO reports, civic news, and everyday local stories, and explore how these archival headlines can become the foundation for compelling fiction. Participants will learn a simple framework for finding the human story inside historical material and will practice turning Tacoma history into characters, tension, and plot that they can develop at home. This session is both a celebration of Tacoma’s rich past and a practical guide for writers looking to use local history as creative fuel.
