'Shine Out the Clearer' Opening Reception

Join us Friday, November 6th from 5 to 8 pm for a celebration of Josh Peters’ solo show, Shine Out the Clearer. We’ll have hors d’oeuvres, drinks, DJ on vinyl and the artist in attendance.

‘Shine Out the Clearer’ is on view from October 29th through November 28th. Peters’ large-scale abstract canvases set bold colors against faded ones, and their richly textured surfaces are built from layer after layer of painterly process. The work is guided by three phrases he has carried with him for years: “follow the spark,” “don’t make it good, make it yours,” and “deny the mistake.” The paintings he loves most in this show are collages of mistakes and edits, made on the belief that if he keeps going, the work will surprise him.
