About Event

westside sounds is a concert series created to feature the beautiful diversity of talent in our west side community and beyond. founded and hosted by venice singer/songwriter and activist ethan buckner, the ethos of westside sounds is all about creating space for community, connection, joy, and collective healing in these turbulent times.

as moss now occupies the former home of the original winston house - westside sounds continues the tradition of uplifting emerging artists and strengthening la’s music scene, while paying homage to the space’s musical roots.

meet the artists

lucy clearwater

born in a bathtub in a cookie factory in california, lucy clearwater is an acoustic folk/americana singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and nature-loving old soul with a background in classical violin. since moving to la in 2016, she’s released an emotional range of singles and eps (feel again, casual, augenlieder, and april), sold out beloved venues like the hotel cafe, and graced the stage at the troubadour. she’s toured internationally, shared the stage with artists like john craigie, madison cunningham, victoria canal, philine sonny, and luca fogale, and won the 2024 new folk competition at the kerrville folk festival. lucy’s heartfelt, vulnerable songwriting and rich acoustic sound resonate deeply with audiences. her debut full-length album, produced by grammy award winning producer tyler chester, is set for release in spring 2026. pro tip: bring tissues to her shows.

desiree choy

desiree is an la-based singer, songwriter, and actress whose music blends nostalgic r&b with a cinematic, coastal feel. born & raised in san francisco, she brings a soulful voice and an easy, magnetic presence to the stage. she most recently performed the national anthem for the golden state warriors and is now shaping her debut project—songs inspired by the kinds of moments that remind you to stay present. she aims to use her voice to bring listeners into a world that feels light and warm, yet deeply felt.

about ethan buckner

la singer/songwriter, activist, and community builder ethan buckner founded the concert series westside sounds to cultivate community, connection, joy, and healing in turbulent times. ethan’s 2024 debut record treading water, produced by grammy-nominee justin glasco (paris paloma, the lone bellow), weaves between moments both intimate and anthemic, exploring struggles that are both deeply personal and unavoidably collective. following a whirlwind year of touring and releases, including a headline debut at la’s iconic troubadour, ethan and glasco are hard at work on his second lp. the project delves into grief, reckoning, and redemption that emerged after ethan found himself immobilized for months in early 2025 following a severe back injury. ethan is grateful to be back in the mix, weaving the magic of music and community.
