Post-Westphalia: The Future of Money and Nation States
Join Marc Ziade (Co-Founder and CEO at 5th World, formerly Head of Web3 at Mastercard, early employee at Consensys) and Noah Landow (Founder & CEO at Macktez) for a candid conversation on technology’s role in reshaping global power, finance, and community.
Marc Ziade offers an "insider-outsider" perspective on the future of money. Having led major blockchain initiatives at Mastercard before founding his current venture, he is uniquely positioned to discuss frictions between established global financial systems and the emerging decentralized ones. In this conversation, he brings a practitioner’s view on how regenerative systems, crypto networks, and physical infrastructure must be designed together to serve people and the planet.
This conversation will focus not on short-term crypto trends but on the larger trend lines appearing in the global economy, potential changes in how reserve currencies, and the long-term societal shifts all of those suggest. Even the possibilities of these changes raise profound questions about ecology, energy, and regulation as well as what organization and entities control and define what is coming. We’ll explore the historical cycle of global reserve currencies and how exponential technological growth suggests the current cycle is nearing its end. We will also discuss "network states", the shift from geographically proximate communities to digitally coordinated ones, and the future implications for the social contract and lifestyle redesign.
Join us at the Macktez office, after work, over light snacks and sips to learn more about these complex and intertwined set of issues.

Our goal is to form a lasting partnership between our team and our clients, so we can anticipate their technology challenges and help them navigate growth, disruption, and other evolving conditions.
Each event in our Tête-à-Tech series is an opportunity to explore a specific cultural, scientific, historical, and personal issue. We fire at the synapses that connect each topic to other fields of interest and to our individual lives. And we do so in a comfortable environment to facilitate conversation that can be casual, surprising, and illuminating.
