The science behind nature – evidence, durability and integrity in carbon markets
This session will show how the latest research and applied science are strengthening the integrity, credibility and feasibility of nature-based solutions within carbon markets. The session will counter outdated perceptions of fragility or uncertainty in nature-based climate action by highlighting robust evidence, new tools, and continuous improvement efforts shaping the next generation of carbon markets.
This discussion sits within the Science for High Integrity Frameworks to Transform Carbon Markets (SHIFT-CM) initiative – a multi-stakeholder collaboration of over 140 scientists and market experts advancing the evidence base for natural climate solutions. It aims to ensure that policy and market design are driven by data, not dogma, and to demonstrate that high-integrity nature-based solutions are measurable, manageable, and indispensable to achieving net zero.
