About Event

Africa’s path toward a hydrogen economy begins with a clear understanding of its place in the global landscape, as well as the opportunities and challenges ahead. The first installment of the Africa Hydrogen Hub Dialogue Series brings together leading voices to examine the current state of hydrogen development on the continent, with a particular focus on the regulatory, financial, and institutional factors shaping progress.

We are happy to have as panellists:

Jerome Namaseb is the CEO of The Daures Green Hydrogen Village, which just completed its pilot proof of concept facility to produce 18 tons of green hydrogen and 100 tons of green ammonia in the Daures Constituency in the Erongo Region of Namibia.

Jaqueline Pinto, an energy lawyer and a doctoral researcher in energy law at the University of Eastern Finland, where her work examines cross-sectoral hydrogen regulation, the dynamics of hydrogen hubs and valleys, and the legal architecture needed to support low-carbon hydrogen deployment.

Bassey Obeten, is a technical advisor for hydrogen at the German Development Agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), where he works with national and international partners to promote green hydrogen development in Nigeria.

Dr. Alina Uusiku is a Researcher at the Namibia Green Hydrogen Research Institute (NGHRI) at the University of Namibia, which was established to provide essential research, development, and technical expertise to ensure the sustainable growth of the nascent green hydrogen sector and its derivatives.

Moderated by Dr. Chigozie Nweke-Eze, this webinar will be a dynamic forum combining expert insight with interactive dialogue.

Attendees will:

  • Gain a clearer understanding of Africa’s positioning in global hydrogen development

  • Explore regulatory and policy frameworks that either facilitate or hinder progress

  • Discuss concrete challenges, from institutional capacity to project financing

  • Pose questions and engage directly with the speakers

This session is ideal for policymakers, energy sector professionals, academics, civil society actors, and all stakeholders interested in Africa’s sustainable hydrogen future.
