About Event

As higher education institutions navigate changing student expectations, workforce demands, and institutional accountability, many leaders are asking an important question: how do we develop the next generation of leaders who are willing to question long-standing academic practices while advancing student success?

In this session, Jo Alice Blondin, President of Clark State College, joins Leander Howard II, Co-Founder & CMO of WriteSea, to explore how intentional mentorship programs can help cultivate leaders who challenge the status quo and champion student success across institutions.

Drawing on Clark State’s formal mentorship program that has been in place for more than eight years, the conversation will examine how the initiative was created, how it has been sustained over time, and what institutions can learn from developing leaders who interrogate long-held academic traditions.

Together, they will discuss how mentorship programs can strengthen leadership capacity across campuses while empowering faculty and staff to rethink practices that impact student success.

This session will explore:

• How mentorship programs can develop student success champions across campus

• Strategies for creating and sustaining structured mentorship initiatives

• How institutions can cultivate leaders who question the status quo in higher education

• Lessons learned from eight years of mentorship program implementation

• How mentorship can support institutional innovation while strengthening student success outcomes

This conversation is designed for Presidents, Provosts, CIOs, IT Leadership, Deans, Career Services Leaders, and Workforce Development Professionals seeking new approaches to leadership development and institutional innovation.
