Code for the Planet with AWS Cloud Connect
What happens when we combine AWS GenAI and environmental projects? Really cool LLMs that help organizations at the frontier of conservation efforts such as reforestation, wetland preservation, and water replenishment.
👂 Hear from AWS Cloud Connect partners on the best way to leverage MCP and GenAI tools
🍎 No need to be an expert, we will teach you
👥 Participants: Engineers, Designers, Storytellers, Green Teams, and Students—all welcome!
🛠️ Tools & Tech: QGIS, Python, PostgresSQL, Vue, AWS Strands
✨ Perks: Swag, badges, real-world impact, and climate-tech networking
🌱 What's the hackathon challenge we'll work on?
🛰️ Stand up MCP servers: These connect ProgramEarth’s real-world data (maps, layers, files) so AI tools can use it
🤖 Build with Strands agents: Query maps, pull data, and suggest changes through an SDK made for exactly this
🗺️ See your work live: Fetch water, canopy, and marker layers straight into the dashboard (no manual uploads)
📊 Why it matters: Environmental groups on the ground often lack access to technical like dashboards, spatial tools, and analytics to do their best work. Together, we can co-create open tools that help these organizations demonstrate impact, secure funding, and scale restoration efforts.
Students highly encouraged. Use your skills to enter both tech or the public sector!
