RAMMIC Launch Event | Accelerating Retrofit Innovation
Welcome to the official launch of the Retrofit Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Centre (RAMMIC).
The UK’s housing stock accounts for over 20% of national carbon emissions. RAMMIC is a pioneering initiative designed to take novel building envelope and retrofit technologies from concept to mass market.
Supported by an £8.5m grant from the Local Innovation Partnerships Fund (LIPF), a flagship UK government programme, delivered through UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), investing £500 million to strengthen regional innovation economies across the country, RAMMIC is delivered through a powerhouse alliance: the University of Salford, The University of Manchester, the Energy Innovation Agency (EIA), and Sustainable Ventures.
This partnership provides innovators with a complete, end-to-end commercialisation ecosystem. Startups on the programme can receive comprehensive support, including:
Deep-Tech R&D: Access to world-class advanced materials research to refine product chemistry and durability.
Extreme Physical Validation: Real-world environmental testing at facilities like Energy House 2.0, providing the hard data needed for certifications.
Commercial Scaling: Dedicated support for manufacturing scale-up, supply chain integration, and regional deployment.
Capital & Ecosystem: Investment readiness, direct introductions to climate VCs, and integration into the UK’s largest green tech community.
📍 The Venue
Hosted at Sustainable Ventures, located in the iconic Renold Building in the heart of Manchester’s innovation district.
RAMMIC is grant-funded research, with grant reference number UKRI5673.
