About Event

Welcome to the official launch of the Retrofit Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Centre (RAMMIC).

The UK’s housing stock accounts for over 20% of national carbon emissions. RAMMIC is a pioneering initiative designed to take novel building envelope and retrofit technologies from concept to mass market.

https://www.rammic.co.uk/

Supported by an £8.5m grant from the Local Innovation Partnerships Fund (LIPF), a flagship UK government programme, delivered through UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), investing £500 million to strengthen regional innovation economies across the country, RAMMIC is delivered through a powerhouse alliance: the University of Salford, The University of Manchester, the Energy Innovation Agency (EIA), and Sustainable Ventures.

Lunch and drinks will be provided, here's how the afternoon will play out:

  • 1:00 PM – Doors Open: Arrive, grab some food, and get a drink. We will have a light lunch and refreshments ready to go when you get here.

  • 1:25 PM – Welcome to RAMMIC: A welcome and introduction to the programme delivered by Will Swann (University of Salford).

  • 1:35 PM – The Fireside Panel: A fast paced conversation hosted by Emily Barrett (Sustainable Ventures). We will break down exactly how this programme takes advanced materials from fundamental science, through extreme physical testing, and directly into the retrofit supply chain featuring Will Swann and Antonio Martinez (University of Salford), Tom Bannon (University of Manchester), David Schiele (Energy Innovation Agency), and Andrew Wordsworth (Sustainable Ventures).

  • 2:15 PM – Engineered Collisions: We are intentionally keeping the formal speaking tight so you have time to actually connect. The rest of the afternoon is dedicated to networking, with two dedicated zones set up: one for deep technical insights , and another focused on commercial scaling and deployment.

  • 3:00 PM – Event Close.

Location: Sustainable Ventures, The Renold Building, 32a Altrincham St, Manchester, M1 7JR.

RAMMIC is grant-funded research, with grant reference number UKRI5673.
