About Event

Early-stage climate technology companies regularly face barriers to raising capital.  Technology and business model risks, real and perceived, often keep traditional investors on the sidelines.

Program-Related Investments (PRIs) are a powerful but underused tool that can help fill this critical capital gap.  PRIs are tax-advantaged, concessionary investments made by philanthropists with the primary purpose of advancing a charitable impact.  PRIs can be made to any type of recipient entity (e.g. companies, nonprofits, government) and structured in any form (e.g. loans, equity, hybrid instruments).

This event is for philanthropists and entrepreneurs who want to learn about PRIs and how to use them with early-stage climate tech companies.  Venn Foundation will also share its model for efficient custom PRI syndication.  Four Minnesota-based climate tech companies will present their businesses, capital strategies, and experience raising PRIs using Venn’s model.

Presenters:
Jeff Ochs, CEO of Venn Foundation
Andrew Jones, CEO of Carba, Inc.
Michael Martin, CEO of r.World, PBC
Luke Shors, Co-Founder of Capture6, LLC
Eugene Alvey, CEO of Swinergy, Inc.
