Alter Magazine #3 Launch
About Alter:
Alter Magazine is a monthly journal bringing to the world new literary writing on Science, Technology, and Progress, from South Asia.
With every story, we aim to alter our readers views & perceptions, bringing to them contemporary geniuses, cutting-edge ideas, and pathbreaking discoveries. This is a living journal documenting the dreams and dilemmas shaping South Asia’s aspirations for progress, capturing the region’s diverse energies as it seeks not just advancement for itself, but to help write the next chapter of collective human progress.
About the event:
Issue #3 is special. And limited to only 25 people.
Our third issue traces the legacy of saris and the ways technology is evolving the craft. The author, Nivedita Kousik, has built an intricate mosaic from first-hand stories of weavers, builders, wearers, and innovators.
This event is a tactile experience and a guided tour to explore the history behind heritage saris, a chance to engage with working handlooms, and hear from entrepreneurs who are reimagining the future of this enduring craft. This is a tour inside a home.
Alter events are typically free and open to the public. For this launch, tickets are priced at ₹800 to help cover museum expenses. After registering, attendees will receive an approval email with a payment link. Attendance will be confirmed only after the payment is completed. So, please watch out for the email and confirm immediately.
We have artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs who have worked with the Gandhi family and the Kennedys and will be providing a guided tour for our attendees.
The event will be held at the Vimor Museum of Living Textiles in Victoria Layout - a tribute to the Indian handloom industry showcasing ancient weaves with their own backstories.
