

Intro to Blueprints in Unreal Engine 5 - In One Afternoon!
This hands-on workshop is designed to get you started with Blueprints, Unreal’s visual scripting system. Over the course of 4 hours, you’ll build a small game while learning the fundamentals of scripting and various editors within Unreal.
The workshop is designed for artists, designers, and anyone who’s already spent a little time in Unreal, but wants to jump into the more technical side of development. No prior coding or node-based scripting experience is required.
What you’ll learn:
Introduction to Unreal's gameplay framework
Working with actor and component blueprints
Tracing and collision basics
The basics of inheritance and commonly used actors
Blueprint fundamentals: events, functions, variables, flow control, blueprint exposed data types
Basic communication between actors
Best practices for keeping blueprint graphs organised
Workshop Overview:

30-minute break mid-session
30 minutes of Q&A and help time

Your Instructor:
Victoria is an Unreal developer and instructor with an extensive background in games, film, and mixed reality. Her past work has ranged from indie games to large scale productions including both the cozy game Palia and the television series Obi-Wan Kenobi. She has also previously developed curriculum for multiple Unreal Engine university courses and has taught game development for over 5 years.

Prerequisites:
You should have used Unreal before for this workshop. If you’re brand new, complete Your First Hour in Unreal Engine first.
