Painting Blooms in Virtual Reality
Painting Blooms in Virtual Reality:
A Digital Bouquet Inspired by Singapore’s Art Heritage
This Mother's Day weekend workshop introduces our parent and child duo an introduction to Virtual Reality (VR) as an artistic medium through the creation of a 3D digital floral bouquet inspired by artworks from Singapore’s national collections, including references from National Gallery Singapore.
Participants will begin by exploring floral representations in Singapore and Southeast Asian art history through guided browsing of museum collections. They will then learn to use VR painting tools (Open Brush) to translate these 2D visual references into immersive 3D forms.
The workshop includes:
Introduction to VR as an artistic and cultural medium
Guided exploration of Singapore’s art collections (focus on floral motifs)
Hands-on VR painting of individual flowers
Composition of a 3D bouquet in virtual space
Reflection and sharing of artworks
This parent-child bonding programme bridges heritage appreciation with emerging technology, allowing participants to reinterpret traditional artworks into contemporary digital expressions.
