About Event

Discover how storytelling can help students connect with ancient customs, cultural traditions, and practices that support the well-being of our communities and the Earth. In this virtual event, educators will explore the power of oral history through examples from Bhutan, where indigenous knowledge has been passed down through generations to foster a deep relationship with nature and community.

Participants will learn practical strategies for bringing storytelling and oral history into the classroom, including how to design meaningful learning experiences that encourage students to engage with local knowledge keepers, document community stories, and explore traditional approaches to environmental care. Teachers will leave with ideas and tools to create similar projects in their own communities, helping students build cultural understanding, environmental awareness, and a stronger sense of place.

Pema was a member of our Green Accelerator for Educator program, and we're thrilled to feature this wonderful project!
