Every choice we make has a cost, but we rarely see the bill.

​Together, we will explore a new framework. One that reveals the gap between resources and materials that sustains an abundant lifestyle and what Earth can regenerate. Through interactive exploration and small-group discussions, we'll consider the concept of Ecological Footprint and Biocapacity to reflect on what thriving means: wanting less, and not having more.

​The International Ecological Footprint Learning Lab (IEFLL) and the Degrowth Collective are teaming up to imagine a world of possibilities. This event asks with humility and credibility: What does prosperity actually look like when we live within planetary limits?

​Vlad Bunea is a researcher with the Degrowth Research Circle at York University, video essayist, essayist, editor of the Sufficiency and Wellbeing Magazine, founding member of Degrowth Collective, founding member of the International Degrowth Network, and an affiliate fellow of the Post Growth Institute.

​Eric Miller is the Director of the Ecological Footprint Initiative (EFI), a data analytics hub at York University. He is also Co-Director for the International Ecological Footprint Learning Lab, of which EFI is the core partner organization.

​Peri Dworatzek is a PhD student at York University, studying socio-economic transformations and behaviour change using sustainability tools such as ecological footprint calculators. She is also Partnership Coordinator for the International Ecological Footprint Learning Lab and Vice-President of the Environmental Studies Association of Canada.
