Tech with Impact: Building Business Value
Co-hosts
Wei Xiang (La Trobe University, Cisco Research Chair of AI & IoT & ACAMI Director & Chief Scientist)
Raj Burli (Digital Lead of Innovation and Education, MEMKO)

Session Overview:
How do different industries successfully adopt technology? What challenges stand in the way, and what lessons can be shared across sectors?

This interactive session invites participants to explore the unique technical and business challenges that shape digital adoption across diverse contexts. Rather than a “one-size-fits-all” model, we’ll use real-world experiences to understand what drives meaningful impact.

Session Highlights:

  • Inside MEMKO’s World – Raj will share insights into the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sector, and the challenges MEMKO helps businesses overcome.

  • Research Meets Industry – Wei will speak to projects he’s led and what they reveal about bridging the gap between research and practical implementation.

  • Exploring Industry Contexts – An open discussion around how various sectors navigate challenges like regulation, organisational culture, and ROI — and why understanding these differences is key to success.

  • Shared Reflections – Wei, Raj and participants will help us unpack the critical success factors that cut across industries when embedding digital technologies.
