About Event

Ground Zero Financial Series invites you to the next special event: "Armenia's 🇦🇲 Insurance CEOs on Risk, Investment & Opportunity".

On January 27, 2026, during a gathering with the Ground Zero community, Martin Galstyan, Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, and Karén Gyulbudaghyan launched a globally unique public-private partnership. Ground Zero Venture Cafe and the Central Bank of Armenia united around a mission to reimagine financial literacy in Armenia and serve as the catalyst for jumpstarting the country's financial industry from the ground up.

The Ground Zero Financial Series is the living expression of that partnership. Each event brings together industry leaders, regulators, and the community to close the knowledge gap, accelerate awareness, and unlock opportunity in the sectors that define Armenia's economic future. And insurance is where we begin our deep dive.

Why Insurance and Why Now

Armenia's insurance sector stands at an inflection point. It is one of the most underpenetrated markets in the region. As the economy grows and matures, insurance plays a critical role in protecting personal and business wealth, enabling risk-taking, and channeling capital into long-term investment. Yet awareness remains low, and the opportunity remains largely untapped.

The Panel Discussion

On April 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM EVN, Ground Zero Venture Cafe (1 Saryan St., Yerevan) brings together three of Armenia's insurance leaders:

  • Rafik Suvaryan, CEO, Ingo Armenia

  • Armine Melkonyan, CEO, Sil Insurance

  • Arevshat Meliksetyan, CEO, EFES Insurance

In conversation with Karén Gyulbudaghyan (LinkedIn), Silicon Valley-based Strategic Advisor, Venture Capitalist, and Ecosystem Architect. California-licensed CPA with over 30 years of experience spanning governments, Big4 consulting, Fortune 500 corporations, and startups. Founder of Ground Zero Venture Cafe and the culture-transforming event series: Breakfast, Exclusive, and Financial Series. Graduate of Stanford University's Strategic Decision and Risk Management program. The first Global Ambassador at UC Berkeley SkyDeck, Forbes' top-ranked university accelerator. Member of Armenia's National Council for Science and Technology Development under the Prime Minister.

The Discussion Will Cover Critical Areas:

1) Why Insurance Matters for Armenia: The insurance industry is a foundation for a resilient, growing economy. How coverage protects wealth, supports household financial security, and builds the confidence needed for individuals and businesses to take calculated risks in a nascent market.

2) The Future of Business Insurance in Armenia: From cybersecurity insurance and general business liability to sector-specific products, our panelists will address what Armenian businesses need today and what the sector will develop for tomorrow.

3) Insurance Funds as an Investment Vehicle: Beyond protection, insurance companies manage significant capital pools. We will explore how insurance funds operate as institutional investors, where they deploy capital domestically and internationally, and what opportunities this creates for Armenia's broader financial ecosystem.
