About Event

From climate fiction to augmented reality, interactive media offers new ways to make environmentally just futures visible and felt. Crafted by the Reimagine Story Lab and Conscious Futures Studio as a part of the day-long Stories that Move program, this session moves the room from awareness to imagination, and imagination toward collective visioning and solutioning, not through a panel, but through practice.

Program Details

  • 35-minute panel discussion – Why hope matters in climate storytelling

    • Anatola Araba – Founder of ReImagine Story Lab

    • Kate Barranco – Founder of Conscious Futures Studio

    • Diamond Spratling – Founder of Girl + Environment & Children's Book Author

    • [Tentative] Tory Stephens – Founder of Grist's Imagine 2200 Climate Fiction

  • 45-minute workshop and open-mic – An invitation to dream, imagine, and vision with us.

This session will consist of scaffolded writing time, with prompts and thought starters if you want a place to begin, or just space if you don't: write a story, a fragment, a wondering, a poem. It doesn't have to be good. It doesn't have to be finished. It just has to be yours.

We'll turn to a neighbor first. Read something out loud, or talk about what it felt like to write it. Then the mic opens to the whole room, anyone who wants to share, share. No pressure, no order, no polish required.

This isn't easy, imagining a future worth wanting rarely is. That's the point. We're here to stretch a muscle most of us haven't used in a while.
