​Bhutan is about to become the world's first waste-free country — the first nation to design out its own waste entirely, fulfilling in infrastructure the Gross National Happiness philosophy it is known for — and the proving ground for a chain that runs from waste to energy to sovereign compute. The same valley that clears a twenty-year-old landfill produces clean fuel and firm power; the same hydropower that has long been Bhutan's export becomes the ground under data centres and sovereign AI. The first step is deliberately small: a village-scale pilot in the $2–5 million range. The destination is not.

​Because the technology is proven, modular and largely buildable in-country — an estimated 60–80% of the equipment can be sourced and fabricated inside Bhutan — the pilot is a low-risk, high-signal entry point into a serial roll-out that sequences toward Gelephu Mindfulness City, the special administrative region where the markets of Assam, West Bengal and Bangladesh come within reach, and where the waste, the lead and the medical hazard exist at a scale a thousand times Bhutan's.
