About Event

Join American Bird Conservancy and Root to Flourish for a morning of birds, nature, and poetry at the beautiful Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens.

Spring migration is one of the world's natural wonders, but a lot of us miss what is happening right above us. During DC Climate Week, millions of birds that nest in the Northern Hemisphere are moving north to find emerging sources of food and nesting locations.

We will spend a morning with our feathered friends to celebrate migration and our own ability to gather together in nature. This event is appropriate for experienced birders and for those who have never tried to find birds before.

You will need comfortable shoes and clothes. A hat and sunscreen are helpful. Binoculars would be great but are completely optional. We will bring a few extra pairs. We will provide some snacks, but please bring your own water bottle.

We will head out in small groups to find birds and will eventually gather on the board walk to share some stories and listen to some poetry.

The gardens are part of Anacostia Park and the river and adjacent lands have a rich and complicated history. Today, the wetlands provide a peaceful retreat within the city.

We can't wait to see you there!
