Mending Workshop by Shamika at the KCM Space
Do you have clothes laying around that you don't wear anymore because there's a hole in it? Or maybe you lost a button on a shirt? Or maybe the length of those pants are a bit too long? Or maybe the nara on those shorts vanished in the wash? Or shoes that have their soles coming off?
If you have items laying around begging to be mended, we invite you to join our Mending Workshop (led by Shamika) on Saturday, 1st November. We'll be meeting near Deshapriya Park in South Kolkata (exact location disclosed after registration).
We welcome seasoned menders and total beginners! Take this as an excuse to fix that item so you can finally use it again, or to learn a new skill, or just be in a space with like minded, environmentally conscious individuals.
To bring:
2-4 items for mending
basic sewing kit (needles, scissors, buttons, safety pins)
threads (regular thickness & embroidery thread - coloured to match or contrast the item you're fixing)
glue (fabric glue, feviquick, etc.)
small embroidery ring
scrap fabric
What we provide:
tea & biscuits
Music
interesting people to engage with
Can provide a full kit with necessary items (for a fee)
There is no fee to join the workshop. We will have a contribution box at the venue to support the workshop lead.
The event is being hosted by Veditum India Foundation and Kolkata Change Makers.
