Blues Dance Class 10/12 - Shuffle & Triplet Rythms
Howdy Bluesers :)
Last class we took a deep dive into the blues shuffle, which is more than just a rhythm, it’s an integral part the music history. Legend has it that the shuffle rhythm impersonated the sound of trains – a key symbol of freedom for African American people.
We are back to continue adding on another fun rhythm to play with - the triplets! The triplets are the base of almost any ‘slow blues’ or ‘shuffle blues’ song. We will get the rhythm in different body parts & learn some exciting new moves.
The shuffle and triplets are common rhythms & timings found in blues music. Whether you have attended the last class or not, after finishing this class you will be able to identify and dance to these rhythms and learn how to improvise with them so you and your partner can have a wonderfully interesting rhythmic dialogue.
We will have a professional photographer shooting this class, so make sure you dress up if you feel inclined to :) If you do not want to be in the pictures, please let me know and I will understand and respect your boundary.
My birthday is the following day, come celebrate with me at Sam's after ;)
