AI Foundation Models in Medical Imaging: The Path to Patient Impact
Abstract
Join us for an evening on how AI foundation models will change medical imaging – from diagnostics and biomarkers to clinical decision-making and patient care.
The promise: faster translation from pixels to patient insight. Yet the path to clinical impact is complex.
This panel will discuss where they see the biggest potential for health applications, what hurdles they are facing in applying these models and how it needs in the next years to get from Neural Networks to clinical reality.
Panelists
Dr. Maximilian Alber
Max is a co-founder and CTO of Aignostics and holds a PhD in Machine Learning from TU Berlin.
Aignostics is an AI-driven startup with the mission to generate insights from bio-medical data and more specifically pathology data. Examples are the pathology foundation model development with Mayo Clinic and target ID research with Bayer, next to numerous projects with big pharma companies and universities.
Dr. Omar El Nahhas
Omar is a co-founder and CEO of StratifAI™ and holds a PhD in Computer Science from TU Dresden.
StratifAI is a precision oncology company that has developed Polaris™. By combining clinical data with multimodal AI, Polaris™ identifies novel biomarkers that enable more precise, data-driven treatment decisions. The first diagnostic is designed to predict the risk of recurrence after local curative surgery for early breast cancer. Last month, StratifAI closed a €12.5m funding round.
Artem Elmuratov
Artem is the Head of Life Sciences and Healthcare at Nebius, a leading AI cloud provider based in Europe.
He drives the development of infrastructure that enables data-intensive workloads in drug development, biomedical research, and healthcare.
Dr. Steffen Vogler
Steffen works at Bayer Radiology-R&D and holds a PhD in Neurobiology.
He is leading research and product development on AI in medical computer vision with experience in both radiology and digital pathology.
Moderator
Nicolas Weber
Nicolas is a serial entrepreneur and business developer focused on transforming healthcare through technology and artificial intelligence. He is currently building a deep tech company in the healthcare sector in stealth mode.
As a founder and board member, he has accompanied several companies in the healthcare sector from the early stages to international scaling – including medneo (‘Radiology-as-a-Service’) and OpenRad (workflow IT). He is also an active board member of the Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO) and the German Society for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (DGKIMED).
