Clay Anthropology Workshop - Traditional SWANA Censers
Join Khale's House and community teaching artist Manu Del Mar Ceramics for a workshop on traditional clay vessels for burning incense in the SWANA world.
You will be making your very own censer (incense burner), in the traditional form, to take home with you. These methods have been used for millennia to burn various aromatic herbs, seeds, woods, and resins. They have been used historically for both daily self-care, and specific rituals and ceremonies. We look forward to learning more about them together.
All materials will be provided including:
air dry clay
coal
frankincense resin
esfand (wild rue seeds)
Tickets are sliding scale for accessibility, please reduce the price as needed. If you are well resourced and would like to sponsor another guest, please increase the ticket price during your checkout. We appreciate everyone and welcome you as you are.
Location will be shared via email with all guests who RSVP through Luma.
