What We’re Doing
The legal system is one of the most fundamentally broken systems in society. Millions of people are locked out of basic consumer legal services every year.
At Lawhive, we’re changing that.
At our inaugural one-day hackathon, we’re challenging engineers, designers, and legal professionals to use AI agents to build something that meaningfully improves how individuals access, understand, or navigate legal help.
No hypothetical prompts. No toy problems. You’ll be working within the constraints, edge cases, and complexity that exist in the real world.

Who We’re Looking For
If you can build, design, or think through products using AI, we want you to get involved. We’d love to see participation from engineers, designers, lawyers and legal - and you can enter either solo or as a cross-functional team. After all, the best solutions always come from a blend of technical chops and domain expertise.
The Problem Tracks
We’re looking for solutions that tackle the sharpest pain points in consumer law. Once your spot is confirmed, you’ll get the full technical specifications needed to address these problem statements:
Track A: Open brief
No constraints. Define your own problem, your own approach, your own measure of success. The biggest leap forward for access to justice might be something we haven’t imagined, and we genuinely want to see it.
Track B: Know Your Rights
The Vision: What if finding out your legal rights was as easy as texting a friend? Build an agent that translates messy, plain-English complaints into actionable legal standing, clarifies the user's position, and maps out next steps without the jargon.
Track C: Case in a Box
The Vision: What if getting legal help felt as seamless as booking an Uber? Build a conversational agent that handles end-to-end client intake in one sitting; gathering facts, prompting for evidence, and outputting a clean, verified case brief ready for a lawyer.
Track D: The Negotiator
The Vision: What if everyone had a tireless, expert negotiator in their pocket? Build an agent that guides users through the pre-action phase, drafting compliant demand letters, tracking deadlines, and escalating to a human lawyer only when necessary.
Track E: Paperwork Crusher
The Vision: What if every dense contract instantly explained its own hidden traps? Build an agent that ingests intimidating legal documents, returns plain-English summaries, flags hidden clauses, extracts deadlines, and helps the user execute next steps.
